Wayne Harrex
Company Director / Project Manager / Estimator
With over 35 years in the Electrical Trade, Wayne is a hands-on Director of Laser Electrical Alexandra. His expertise covers HV transmission distribution, switching and control, generation control, systems, cranes, and ancillary equipment. Wayne is also a licensed electrical inspector with experience in high voltage installations and is committed to providing regular training opportunities for aspiring apprentices.
Michelle Harrex
Company Director / Health and Safety Officer
Michelle manages multiple roles, primarily implementing and overseeing the company’s Health, Safety, and Wellbeing system, which was created specifically for the business with the help of PlanitSafe. This ensures a safe working environment for workers and those on site. Her role also incorporates HR, payroll, Debtors/Creditors, and the scheduling and planning of work.
Joey Welham
Senior Electrician / Site Supervisor
Joey started as an apprentice in 2014 and is a valued team member with vast experience across residential, commercial, and industrial sites. He has recently led teams on large commercial projects and upgraded power security systems for Aviemore and Waitaki Power Stations. Joey is a competent, forward-thinking electrician demonstrating sound leadership skills, helping to train apprentices, and beginning to take on project management tasks.
Tim McGimpsey
Electrician
Tim completed his apprenticeship with the company after starting as a trades assistant in 2017. He is a knowledgeable and skilled electrician with experience across all sectors, particularly enjoying heavy industrial installations and PLC work. Tim's talent for problem-solving ensures solutions that suit customers. He is a valued team member who has shown great leadership skills in training apprentices.
Ben Johnston
Electrical Apprentice
Ben began his apprenticeship in March 2022 and works efficiently and enthusiastically in a team environment. He is progressing well, becoming a confident tradesman, and is enthusiastic about working out of town for weekly assignments. Ben is also starting to manage small residential repair and maintenance work.

Electrical Apprentice
Quinn started in July 2022 as a gateway student, leading to the commencement of his apprenticeship the following year. He is a talented apprentice with great attention to detail and a strong work ethic. Quinn was quickly involved in a sizeable project at Manapouri, where he learned industrial controls, and has since gained good exposure to commercial and residential works.

Lachie is the newest apprentice, starting his apprenticeship in July 2024 after also beginning as a gateway student. He has a great attitude to learning and is always willing to tackle new challenges.

Toni started in 2016 as a part-time office administrator, developing the role into full-time operations management. She is paramount to the smooth running of the office and organisation. Toni is a proficient residential estimator, using her great attention to detail to work alongside the team, customers, and suppliers to ensure the best possible outcome for the business.

Jacqui has just recently joined our team part time, keeping our administrative wheels turningsmoothly. She handles essential backend operations, from managing meeting workflows tocoordinating external client and supplier logistics. Her structured approach and efficiencymake her a vital support system for the entire team.
